According to the statistics provided by Ukrmetallurgprom, in January to October, Ukrainian mining and steelmaking companies increased production of steel by 2.3% to 17.96 million tons compared to the same period of the past year.
Over 10 months, steelmaking companies produced 15.6 million tons of rolled products, 1.8% up from the same period of the past year. Production of pig iron remained at the level of 2018, 17.07 million tons.
In October, Ukraine’s mining & metals sector reduced production of steel by 10.5% to 1.56 million tons compared to September. Production of rolled products fell by 2.3% to 1.54 million tons, and pig iron by 9.1% to 1.6 million tons.
Over the first six months of 2019, steel production grew by 5% to 10.9 million tons, rolled products by 3.2% to 9.4 million tons, and pig iron by 0.4% to 10.2 million tons compared to January — June 2018.
