In September 2020, Ukrainian steelmakers reduced manganese ore imports by 7.5% to 58.04 thousand tons compared to September last year.
In monetary terms, manganese ore imports fell by 10.5% to $8.8 million, according to the customs statistics.
Over the first nine months of 2020, imports of manganese ores in monetary terms decreased by 66.4% to $57.5 million compared to the same period of the previous year.
Ukraine’s imports of manganese ores in January–September totaled 418 thousand tons. This is 55.7% down from the same period of 2019.
Ukraine imported 85.05% of manganese ores from Ghana. Russia ranked second (11%), followed by the South Africa (3.84%).
In 2019, Ukraine’s imports of manganese ores and concentrate grew by 28.8% to 1.209 million tons compared to the previous year. In monetary terms, manganese ore imports increased by 15.2% to $210.6 million.
