Ukraine’s negative foreign trade balance in goods in January-September 2025 increased by 50% year-on-year, from $20.4 billion to $30.62 billion, according to data from the State Statistics Service (SSS).
Exports of goods from Ukraine in the first nine months fell by 4.1% year-on-year to $29.57 billion, while imports rose by 17.5% to $60.19 billion.
In September of this year, seasonally adjusted export volumes decreased by 1%, and imports decreased by 4.2% compared to the previous month.
The seasonally adjusted foreign trade balance in September was negative and amounted to $3.612 billion.
The export-to-import coverage ratio for the first nine months was 0.49 (compared to 0.60 in the same period last year). Foreign trade operations were conducted with partners from 222 countries around the world.
According to the State Customs Service, Ukraine’s trade turnover for January-October 2025 amounted to $101 billion. During this period, goods worth $67.8 billion were imported into the country, while exports amounted to $33.2 billion. At the same time, taxable imports amounted to $51.8 billion, which is 76% of the total volume of imported goods.
As GMK Center reported earlier, Ukraine’s trade turnover grew by 13% in 2024 compared to 2023, from $99.4 billion to $112.3 billion. During the year, goods worth $70.7 billion were imported into Ukraine, while exports amounted to $41.6 billion.
