Ukraine’s exports of pipes grew by 37% in May

In May 2021, Ukraine increased pipes exports by 37.3% to 53.5 thousand tons against May 2020. In monetary terms, pipes exports increased by 45.6% to $60.8 million, according to the customs statistics.

In January-May, pipe companies increased imports of their products by 8.7% to 208.6 thousand tons against the same period in 2020, and revenues from pipes exports grew by 5.8% to $239.1 million.

In 5M, the share of seamless pipes in Ukraine’s exports was the largest, 146.7 thousand tons worth $187.6 million. In addition, Ukraine sold 59.8 thousand tons of other pipes and tubes worth $47.9 million.

The main export markets for Ukraine-made seamless pipes were Germany, Italy and the U.S. Poland bought about a half of other pipes and tunes and hollow sections.

As reported earlier, in 2020, Ukraine’s pipes export revenues decreased by 22% to $521.9 million against 2019. In physical terms, exports dropped by 22.8% to 473.1 thousand tons.

The main producers of pipes in Ukraine are Interpipe NIKO TUBE LLC, Interpipe NTRP, Dnipro Metallurgical Plant Kominmet, Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol, Interpipe NMPP, Trubostal, Centravis, Dnipropetrovsk Pipe Plant and Slavsant.
