Ukraine’s exports of ferroalloys in June decreased by a third

In June 2020, Ukrainian steelmakers decreased semi-finished products exports by 30.6% to 48.1 thousand tons against June last year.

In monetary terms, exports fell by 30.9% to $53.7 million, according to the customs statistics.

Ferroalloys export revenue declined by 22.3% in June against May. In physical terms, exports of ferroalloys dropped by 24.5%.

In H1, revenue of Ukraine’s steelmaking companies from exports of ferroalloys reduced by 19.5% to $406.7 million compared to the same period of 2019.

In January–June, Ukrainian steelmakers exported 383.1 thousand tons of ferroalloys, 16.6% down from H1 last year.

The share of ferroalloys in the total volume of Ukraine’s trade amounted to 1.8%.

The main export markets were the Netherlands (28.41%), Turkey (15.07%), and Italy (12.50%).

As reported earlier, Ukraine’s exports of ferroalloys in 2019 declined in physical terms by 7.8% to 833.6 thousand tons against 2018. In monetary terms, exports of ferroalloys dropped by 6.9% to $910.2 million.

Ferroalloys in Ukraine are produced by Nikopol ferroalloy plant, Zaporizhzhia ferroalloy plant, Pobuzhsky ferronickel plant, Kramatorsk ferroalloy plant, Pokrov Mining and Processing Plant, Marganets Mining and Processing Plant and Energostal.
