Ukraine’s cargo transportation fell by 11.2% in 2020

In 2020, cargo transportation in Ukraine decreased by 11.2% to 600 million tons against 2019, according to the State Statistics Service.

In December, a decline in cargo transportation volume slowed down:

  • in January–November, a decline was 11.6% compared to the same period of 2019;
  • in January–October 12.5%;
  • in January–September 13.3%;
  • in January–August 13.4%;
  • in January–July 15%;
  • in January–June 16.3%;
  • in January–May 16.5%;
  • in January–April 15%;
  • in January–March 14.9%;
  • in January–February 16%;
  • in January 20.7%.

In 2020, rail transportation decreased by 2.4% to 305.5 million tons, road transportation by 21.7% to 191.3 thousand tons against 2019.

Water transportation dropped by 8.3% to 5.6 million tons, pipe transportation by 13.5% to 97.5 million tons, and air transportation by 6.7% to 0.1 million tons.

As GMC Center reported earlier, cargo transportation by all means of transport grew by 2.1% in 2019.
