Ukraine reduced pipe production by a third in January–May

In January–May 2020, Ukraine’s major pipe companies cut production by 30% to 334.5 thousand tons compared to the same period of the previous year, according to Interfax-Ukraine.

Member companies of Ukrtruboprom reduced production by 37.4% to 225.1 thousand tons compared to January–May 2019.

Over the first five months of the current year, Interpipe NTRP decreased production by 43.7% to 63.1 thousand tons compared to January–May 2019. Interpipe NMPP reduced pipe production by 37.3% to 28.7 thousand tons. Production at Interpipe Niko Tube declined by 30.6% to 124.1 thousand tons.

In total, pipe production at three Interpipe companies in January–May 2020 shrank by 33.8% to 194.2 thousand tons.

Over the first five months of 2020, Dniprovskiy Pipe Works produced just 0.3 thousand tons of pipes against 11.9 thousand tons in the same period of the previous year.

In January–May, Centravis cut production of stainless pipes by 14.7% to 8.1 thousand tons, and Trubostal by 27.3% to 0.8 thousand tons.

In January–May, companies without membership in Ukrtruboprom showed the following results:

  • Ilyich Iron and Steel Works — 58.2 thousand tons (+2.1%);
  • Kominmet — 51.2 thousand tons (-14.5%).

In 2019, major pipe companies of Ukraine cut production by 9.1% to 1.002 million tons compared to the same period of the previous year, member companies of Ukrtruboprom by 10.2% to 715.1 thousand tons.
