Ukraine reduced pipe production by 16.3% in 2020

In 2020, Ukrainian pipe companies reduced pipe production by 16.3% to 854 thousand tons against 2019, according to Interfax-Ukraine.

Member companies of Ukrtruboprom reduced production of pipes by 24.8% to 538 thousand tons.

In December, Ukraine produced 71 thousand tons of pipes, of which 44 thousand tons were made by Ukrtruboprom member companies.

Production at Interpipe companies declined as follows:

  • Interpipe NTRP — by 33.7% to 145 thousand tons;
  • Interpipe NMPP — by 23.9% to 78.6 thousand tons;
  • Interpipe Niko Tube — by 16.5% to 293.7 thousand tons.

In 2020, Dniprovskiy Pipe Works produced 0.3 thousand tons of pipes against 17.6 thousand tons in the same period of the previous year. Centravis cut production by 9.3% to 19.05 thousand tons. Trubostal’s output shrank by 42.9% to 1.6 thousand tons.

Non-member companies of Ukrtruboprom showed the following results in 2020:

  • Ilyich Iron and Steel Works — 151.6 thousand tons (+4.2% against 2019);
  • Kominmet — 164.6 thousand tons (+12.2%).

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2020, Ukraine’s pipe exports decreased by 22.8% to 473.1 thousand tons against 2019. Revenue from pipes exports dropped by 22.8% to $521.9 million.

In 2019, Ukraine curtailed pipe production by 9.1% to 1.002 million tons compared to 2018.
