Deliveries for the month amounted to 6.26 thousand tons. Angles, shaped and special sections accounted for more than 50% of the total
In January 2025, Ukraine reduced imports of long steel products by 37.6% compared to January 2024, to 6.26 thousand tons. The figure was down 24.7% month-on-month. This is according to GMK Center’s calculations based on data from the State Customs Service.
Most of the imports were angles, shaped and special profiles (HS 7216) – 3.32 thousand tons, down 47.6% compared to January 2024 and 31.1% more than in the previous month. Turkey is the key supplier of the relevant products – 2.28 thousand tons.
About 1 thsd tonnes of supplies were made up of other rods and bars of carbon steel, without further processing, twisted (HS 7214), down 5.6% y/y and 63.4% m/m. Turkey supplied 0.78 thousand tons of these products to the Ukrainian market.
The cost of imports of long products by Ukrainian consumers decreased by 37.2% y/y and 35.8% m/m – to $6.88 million over the month.
As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2024, Ukraine increased imports of long products by 12.1% compared to 2023, up to 171.9 thousand tons.
Angles, shapes and special profiles (HS 7216) accounted for the bulk of supplies, amounting to 76.69 thousand tons, up 47.9% y/y. Turkey supplied 57.88 thousand tons of the relevant products to the Ukrainian market (+25.8% y/y), Poland – 11.98 thousand tons (+9%), Germany – 2.38 thousand tons (+80.1%).
In addition, 43.84 thousand tons of other rods and bars of carbon steel, without further processing, twisted (HS 7214) were imported, which is 29.7% less than in 2023. Turkey imported 35.99 thousand tons of such products (-20.7% y/y).
