Ukraine put limestone on the list of critical import

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine have added limestone to the list of critical imports. In addition, dolomite, and other stones, which contain limestone, have been added to the list. It is stated in the government decree No. 244 of April 12.

“Include in the annex to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated February 24, 2022 No. 153 “On the list of critical import goods” – as amended by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated March 4, 2022 No. 191 dated March 7, 2022 No. 219, dated March 8, 2022, No. 226 dated March 10, 2022, No. 244 dated March 13, 2022, No. 266, March 19, 2022, No. 324 the attached changes”, the information says.

Also, the list of critical imports includes wire from other alloyed steels, ores, and concentrates of molybdenum, tungsten, and products from it, molybdenum, and products from it, mercury, copper waste, and scrap, as well as other materials.

As a reminder, on March 13, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine by the Decree No. 266 of March 2022 included in the list of critical import steel rolled products from carbon, and other alloyed steels, cold-formed bars, and briquettes, and some steel structures, and their parts.

As GMK Center reported previously, limestone carriage by rail in March 2022 fell by 85% y-o-y to 100 thousand tons. In total, limestone deliveries fell by 63%.

In January-September 2021, Ukraine increased limestone import by 24% y-o-y – to 936 thousand tons. At the same time, in the first nine months of 2021, domestic enterprises increased limestone production by 11% y-o-y – to 11 million tons. The top three industry leaders accounted for 68% of the total production volume: Novotroitsk Mining Administration – 30%, Ternopil Quarry – 21%, GDP – 18%.

In 2020, Ukraine maintained limestone production at the level of 2020 – 13.3 million tons. Limestone consumption in metallurgy also remained at the level of 2019 year.
