On November 13, the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) approved a draft resolution to set the electricity transmission tariff for 2025 at UAH 665.26/MWh, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
This is 25.8% more than the current year’s tariff (UAH 528.57/MWh), but less than the one proposed by the company itself. According to NPC Ukrenergo’s calculations, the transmission tariff in 2025 should be 783.71 UAH/MWh.
At the same time, the regulator approved a 3.3% reduction in the transmission tariff for green steel industry to UAH 352.73/MWh, as well as a 9% reduction in the dispatch tariff to UAH 95.07/MWh.
According to the draft resolution on the transmission tariff, the calculations include the volume of electricity transmission of 98.7 million MWh, and the required revenue from transmission services is UAH 65.5 billion.
The draft resolutions of the NEURC approved at the meeting of the regulator are subject to further discussion. The final decision will be made later.
In October 2024, the NEURC launched a regulatory procedure to revise price caps starting in November. It was planned to increase the marginal prices for DAM and IDM from 11:00 to 17:00 to UAH 6.9 thousand/MWh. As noted, the revision of price caps in the electricity market was driven by the need to ensure conditions for commercial imports from Europe in the autumn and winter.
As GMK Center reported earlier, Ukraine and the EU have agreed to increase the possibility of importing electricity in winter. Starting from December 1 this year, the maximum capacity for electricity imports from the EU will be increased from the current 1.7 GW to 2.1 GW. Ukraine will also have an additional 250 MW of guaranteed capacity for emergency power flows from the EU.
