According to the information received by GMK Center from the Ukrainian Association of Producers of Ferro-alloys and Other Electrometallurgical Products (UkrFA), in January to September, Ukraine produced 1,225.76 thousand tons of manganese concentrate, 8% up from the same period of the previous year.
Pokrov GOK (mining and processing plant) produced 831.67 thousand tons of manganese concentrate and 91 thousand tons of manganese sinter ore. By the way, the plant reduced sinter production by 44.6%.
The second of the two Ukrainian companies of this profile, Marganets GOK, produced 394 thousand tons of manganese concentrate in 9 months of 2019, 7.6% down from the same period of 2018.
Pokrov GOK (former Ordzhonikidze GOK) mines 70% of manganese ore in Ukraine. The raw material base is represented by the eastern section of Nikopol manganese ore deposit (429.1 million tons of reserves).
Marganets GOK mines manganese ore by open-pit and underground methods (80% to 20%). The raw material base is represented by the eastern section of Nikopol deposit (253 million tons of reserves).
