Ukraine increased exports of long rolled products by 45.4% y/y in 2025

In 2025, Ukrainian steel companies increased their exports of long rolled products by 45.4% compared to the same period in 2024, to 892,070 tonnes. This is evidenced by GMK Center calculations based on data from the State Customs Service.

Hot-rolled bars and rods made of carbon steel in coils (HS 7213) accounted for 42.4% of total exports of long products, amounting to 378.52 thousand tonnes (+46.5% y-o-y). Romania received 169.01 thousand tonnes, Poland – 101.09 thousand tonnes, and Bulgaria – 21.8 thousand tonnes.

During this period, Ukrainian producers also exported 329.49 thousand tonnes of other carbon steel bars and rods, not further worked, twisted (HS 7214), which is 121.1% more y-o-y. The bulk of the products were sent to Poland – 176.96 thousand tonnes. Another 75.03 thousand tonnes were exported to Moldova and 56.27 thousand tonnes to Romania.

127.99 thousand tonnes (-7.3% y-o-y) of exports were accounted for by carbon steel wire (HS 7217). The main consumers are Poland (44.51 thousand tonnes), Germany (25.11 thousand tonnes) and the Czech Republic (15.49 thousand tonnes).

In December, the figure was 76.64 thousand tonnes, which is 76.3% more than in December 2024 and 33.4% more than in the previous month.

Shipments of other carbon steel bars and rods, not further processed, twisted, amounted to 25.58 thousand tonnes (+151.8% y/y; +49% m/m), hot-rolled bars and rods made of carbon steel, in coils – 34.14 thousand tonnes (+91.8% y/y; +33.6% m/m), and wire – 10.41 thousand tonnes (-5.2% y/y; -6.2% m/m).

Foreign currency proceeds from exports of long products in 2025 increased by 34.9% y/y to $609.8 million, and in December – by 63.8% y/y and 34.4% m/m to $51.1 million.

It should be noted that in 2024, Ukraine increased its exports of long rolled metal products by 17.3% compared to 2023, from 523,340 tonnes to 613,730 tonnes. More than 42% of the total volume of long product exports is accounted for by hot-rolled bars and rods made of carbon steel in coils (HS 7213) – 258.33 thousand tonnes (+23% y-o-y). Foreign exchange earnings from long products exports in 2024 increased by 15.1% y-o-y to $452.18 million.
