Ukraine increased exports of long products by 43% y/y in January-November

In January–November 2025, Ukrainian steel companies increased their exports of long rolled products by 43% compared to the same period in 2024, to 815,430 tons. This is evidenced by GMK Center calculations based on data from the State Customs Service.

Hot-rolled bars and rods made of carbon steel in coils (HS code 7213) accounted for 42.2% of total exports of long products, amounting to 344.38 thousand tons (+43.2% y/y). Romania received 158.41 thousand tons, Poland – 82.75 thousand tons, and Bulgaria – 19.0 thousand tons.

During this period, Ukrainian producers also exported 303.91 thousand tons of other carbon steel bars and rods, not further processed, twisted (HS code 7214), which is 118.9% more y/y. The bulk of the products were sent to Poland – 159.89 thousand tons. Another 70.36 thousand tons were exported to Moldova and 54.91 thousand tons to Romania.

Another 117.58 thousand tons (-7.5% y/y) of exports were carbon steel wire (HS code 7217). The main consumers were Poland (40.92 thousand tons), Germany (22.49 thousand tons), and the Czech Republic (14.52 thousand tons).

In November, the figure was 57.47 thousand tons, which is 34.2% more than in November 2024 and 30.1% less than in the previous month. Shipments of other carbon steel bars and rods, not further processed, twisted, amounted to 17.16 thousand tons (+62.3% y/y; -41.4% m/m), hot-rolled bars and rods made of carbon steel, in coils – 25.55 thousand tons (+49.9% y/y; -35% m/m), and wire – 11.11 thousand tons (+2.5% y/y; +17.6% m/m).

Foreign currency proceeds from exports of long products in January–November increased by 32.7% y/y – to $558.71 million, and in November – by 16.5% y/y and decreased by 29.7% m/m – to $38 million.

It should be noted that in 2024, Ukraine increased its exports of long rolled metal products by 17.3% compared to 2023, from 523,340 tons to 613,730 tons. More than 42% of the total volume of long product exports is accounted for by hot-rolled bars and rods made of carbon steel in coils (HS code 7213) – 258.33 thousand tons (+23% y/y). Foreign exchange earnings from long products exports in 2024 increased by 15.1% y/y – to $452.18 million.
