Ukraine filled its quota for exports of hollow sections to the EU

Ukraine’s steelmaking companies have almost exhausted the country quota for exports of hollow sections to the European Union (category 21) granted for the quarter from 1 April 2021 to 30 June 2021, according to the monitoring data provided by Ukrmetallurgprom.

Ukrainian steelmakers have already exported 16.4 thousand tons of hollow sections to the EU and thus filled the country quota.

After filling the country quota, Ukrainian companies can export this category of products to the EU under the global quota (on a ‘first come, first served’ basis).

Ukraine’s country quota for exports of seamless pipes of stainless steel to the EU (category 22) is 61.9% exhausted as of 12 May. Ukrainian companies exported 2.03 thousand tons of seamless pipes out of 3.3 thousand tons of the quota portion.

The quota for exports of rebar to the EU (category 13) is 47.16% exhausted. Ukrainian companies exported 15.5 thousand tons of rebar out of 32.9 thousand tons of the quota portion.

The country quota for plates (category 7) is 48.17% exhausted. Ukrainian companies exported to the EU 127.6 thousand tons out of 264.97 thousand tons of the quota portion.

The quota for exports of cold-rolled products to the EU was exhausted earlier.

As reported earlier, the difference between country and global quotas is that the former can be exhausted before the end of its validity period, with no rush and fear that other countries will be quicker. Yet unused quantities may not be carried over to the following year.
