In January–July, Ukrainian steelmaking companies decreased production of rolled products by 3.1% to 10.65 million tons compared to the same period of the previous year, according to Ukrmetallurgprom based on its own data and information from ETR-Spektr LLC.
The export share in the rolled products output totaled 82.2% or 8.75 million tons, 4.3 percentage points down from January–July 2019.
The share of semi-finished products in the total volume of Ukraine’s exports made up 49.31%. This is 3.82 percentage points up from January–July 2019.
The share of flat products in exports was slightly lower y-o-y (32.71% and 33.92% respectively), while the share of rolled sections significantly dropped (17.97% and 20.60% respectively).
Domestic consumption amounted to 2.5 million tons of rolled products, of which the share of imports made up 644.4 thousand tons. Compared to the previous year, domestic consumption grew by 10%, while the share of imports dropped by 10.4%.
The share of imports of flat products increased and exceeded that of rolled sections, 54.81% against 43.78%.
