Ukraine boosted revenues from exports of semi-finished products by 66% in May

In May 2021, Ukrainian steel producers reduced their exports of semi-finished products by 7.9% to 522.5 thousand tons against May 2020. At the same time, in monetary terms revenues hiked by 66.2% to $301.7 million, according to the customs statistics.

In January–May 2021, Ukraine’s steelmaking companies increased revenues from semi-finished products exports by 39.4% to $1.6 billion compared to January–May 2020.

In 5M, Ukrainian steelmakers exported 3.06 million tons of semi-finished products. It is 0.9% down from January–May of the previous year.

The main consumers of Ukrainian semi-finished products were Italy (29.5%), Turkey (22.1%), and the Dominican Republic (9.7%).

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2020, volumes of Ukraine’s exports of semi-finished products grew by 6.3% to 7.49 million tons against 2019. Conversely, revenues from exports of semi-finished products fell by 3.8% to $2.75 billion.
