Turkey’s Tosyali Toyo shuts down rolling line after fire – Argus

Turkey’s Tosyali Toyo, a subsidiary of Tosyali Holding, has suspended production at one of the rolling lines at its Osmaniye plant after a fire at the end of last week. This was reported by Argus.Media with reference to market participants.

According to a source in the organized industrial zone of Osmaniye, the fire was localized on the territory of the Toyo plant. The company declined to comment to the agency.

Production on the affected line will be suspended for about three months, one of the insiders said. The market believes that Toyo may try to compensate for the interruptions by using a production line owned by another Turkish company.

Tosyali Toyo’s plant in Osmaniye has a rolling capacity of 1 million tons and produces galvanized, painted and cold-rolled steel sheets.

As a reminder, German steelmaker Salzgitter announced force majeure in its supply of coils after a fire shut down the company’s only hot strip mill. The incident occurred on February 28 for unknown reasons. The letter sent to customers states that the hot strip mill is unlikely to be able to operate at full capacity until the incident is fully resolved.

As noted, the company is making great efforts and taking all possible measures to ensure supplies, and asks customers to take orders quickly and without interruption.
