Trains have been running non-stop on the Giurgiulėszty-Etulia section since December

In December 2023, non-stop train traffic was launched on the Giurgiulėszty-Etulia section. This was discussed during a meeting of representatives of Ukrainian Railways (UZ) with carriers from Romania and Moldova, Rail.insider reports.

The first non-stop trip from Giurgiulėszty station to Etulia station was made on December 1. The return trip took place at the same time. Trains also ran non-stop on December 3 and 4. Currently, there are no problems with traffic, according to the carriers.

A trilateral group has also been set up, which includes representatives of Ukrainian Railways, Moldovan Railways and Romanian carriers, to exchange information on the availability of railcars for transfer across the border.

At the same time, it is noted that the carriage traffic has significantly decreased, so the issue of forming trains in advance is not relevant at the moment.

Ukraine is seeking to improve railroad connections with Moldova and Romania. The parties are working on ways to improve transportation in the direction of Reni-Giurgiulėszty Galati and vice versa.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in November, Ukrainian Railways increased the transportation of iron and manganese ore by all modes of transportation by 2.5 times compared to the same period in 2022, to 3 million tons. In total, the railroad operator transported 14 million tons of cargo during the month, up 33.8% y/y and 4% compared to October this year.
