The UK’s Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) has suspended tariffs on imports of hot-rolled flat coiled steel (HRFC) from Ukraine. SteelOrbis reports about it.
Customs tariffs of around £50/t stopped functioning on 31 August 2022 for the next 9 months. The temporary suspension of tariffs can be extended if necessary.
The TRA opened an investigation into the suspension of anti-dumping customs tariffs on imports of Ukrainian steel in June 2022.
The relevant decision of the authorities was based on the recommendations of the TRA, which insisted on the abolition of tariffs. After assessing the impact of Ukrainian imports on British industry, the TRA found no evidence that the suspension would harm local producers.
As GMK Center reported earlier, the UK canceled all duties and quotas on Ukrainian goods established by an agreement between Ukraine and the UK during Ukraine’s accession to the WTO.
In 2021, Ukraine exported of products to the UK worth $1.1 billion, which is 62.4% more than in 2020.
Among the key items of export are ferrous metals (26.6% of the total volume of exports), fats and oils (16.6%), seeds and fruits of oleaginous plants (15.1%), cereals (13.4%), electrical cars (7.5%).
Later the United Kingdom considerіng abolition of anti-dumping tariffs on certain types of metal products from Ukraine amid Russian invasion. Duties can be abolished for 9 months on hot-rolled flat and rolled products.
