The regulator has approved an increase in Ukrenergo’s tariff for dispatch services

The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKP) has approved an increase in the tariff charged by NEC ‘Ukrenergo’ for operational and dispatch management services. This was reported by Ukrinform.

The decision was approved at a meeting of the regulator on 30 June.

From 1 July this year, this tariff will rise by 7.8% to 118.64 UAH/MWh (excluding VAT).

At the same time, the NEURC has withdrawn the issue of revising the transmission tariff from consideration due to legal uncertainty in the updated legislation on the electricity market. Previously, an increase of 21.8 per cent was envisaged — to 903.53 UAH/MWh (excluding VAT).

The regulator will only consider this issue once Parliament has resolved the legislative conflict that arose following the adoption of the law introducing the market coupling mechanism, notes Interfax Ukraine, as the uncertainty makes it impossible to pay compensation to green generation from the system operator’s tariff.

It should be recalled that in May, rising prices on European electricity markets were driven by fluctuations in gas demand and prices, as well as a decline in renewable energy generation (particularly wind power) in a number of countries. The day-ahead market price in Ukraine last month stood at €101.4/MWh.

According to ExPro Electricity’s monitoring data, in May this year Ukraine reduced its electricity imports by 29% compared with the previous month, or to 398,000 MWh.
