The price of Huta Czestochowa will increase by PLN 26 million after a new official estimate

Huta Czestochowa, one of the largest steel companies in Poland, will be officially revalued. The judge-commissioner overseeing the company’s bankruptcy proceedings is to approve the new value of the asset in the coming days – PLN 253.8 million. This is 26 million more than during last year’s assessment, Wyborcza.pl reports.

The previous starting price in the open tender for the purchase of the property of the bankrupt Liberty Częstochowa company was almost PLN 227 million. The main reason for the price increase is the launch of production in the steelmaking and hot rolling shops by the current tenant, Węglokoks. In addition, the plant has renewed its international quality certificates.

On February 17, 2025, Węglokoks and Dazul with Indian investors presented their proposals in the sale of Liberty Częstochowa’s assets. However, the official property administrator, Adrian Dzwonek, canceled the auction, citing the bankruptcy law, as the plant is included in the list of strategic enterprises. This means that the sale requires the consent of the Ministry of Defense.

In March, the Defense Ministry announced its desire to buy the entire metallurgical complex or parts of it. According to court representative Dominik Bogacz, after the valuation is approved, there are seven days for appeals by Liberty Częstochowa, its creditors, or the Defense Ministry, which has the right of first refusal.

It is the presence or absence of such appeals that will determine when the sale of the plant will be finalized.

As GMK Center reported earlier, on February 3, 2025, Huta Częstochowa reached a key milestone in its resumption of operations, launching production in the plate mill (Walcownia Blach Grubych). This was the last step towards the company reaching full capacity after more than a year of downtime.
