The Netherlands will give Djewels €80 million for a project on green hydrogen production

The Dutch government will provide Djawels BV, a subsidiary of the Dutch hydrogen group HyCC BV, with state aid in the amount of €80 million to implement a green hydrogen production project. The corresponding decision has already been adopted by the European Commission (EC). This is reported by SteelOrbis.

The company will receive funds in the form of a direct grant from the country’s government, which will cover the expected shortfall in project financing.

Djawels intends to build a renewable hydrogen plant using an alkaline electrolyser with electrodes that have high current density and high-pressure hydrogen output. The innovative electrolyzer will have a capacity of 20 MW.

It is expected that the construction of the electrolyser will begin this year, and the full launch of the project will take place in 2027.

Germany plans to invest about €20 billion in hydrogen infrastructure by 2032. Germany’s gas transmission system operators have submitted a joint application for the planned basic hydrogen network to the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA). In total, 9,666 thousand km of lines is included in the plan. About 60% of the future network is existing lines that are currently used for gas transportation.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in June of this year, the European Commission announced the launch of work on a pilot mechanism for the development of the hydrogen market. It is aimed at increasing the transparency of supply and demand in the block hydrogen market.
