The Ministry of Economy will work on expanding Ukrainian exports in 2023

Next year, the Ministry of Economy will focus on supporting business and expanding export opportunities. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy – Trade Representative of Ukraine, Taras Kachka, during a discussion on the state of the Ukrainian economy in 2022. It is stated on the department’s website.

In particular, in 2023, the government will try to extend the duty-free trade regimes with the EU, USA and the UK for at least as long as the war lasts, and Ukrainian business needs support.

According to the trade representative of Ukraine, next year, the specialized department will also actively work on expanding Ukrainian exports.

“We are talking about the unblocking of Black Sea ports, in particular Mykolaiv, and the development of infrastructure in the west of Ukraine, in which business international financial organizations (primarily EBRD) are ready to help, which will finance the projects,” Taras Kachka noted in particular.

In addition, the goal for 2023 is to increase business assistance programs – “eRobota” grant programs and the “5-7-9” program. In the conditions of war, according to Taras Kachka, these are the most effective mechanisms that allow maintaining the economic activity of society.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in October 2022 the government planned to stimulate the process of creating joint railway checkpoints of Ukraine on the border with neighboring EU countries to speed up the logistics of domestic exporters. Yuliya Svyridenko, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, announced this during a meeting with representatives of the steel industry and Ukrzaliznytsia.

Also, Ukrainian steel sector needs unlocking Black Sea ports. Monthly losses of exports of steel products from the country due to the blocking of ports reach $420 million.
