The government rejected the decision to introduce an additional tax on imports

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the President’s Office abandoned the decision to introduce a 10% fee for the purchase of all imported goods and services. Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on finance, tax and customs policy, deputy from the Golos faction, reported about it on his Telegram-channel.

Despite the fact that the draft law was approved by the ministry, it will not be registered in the parliament.

The government decided to abandon the implementation of this law due to significant public pressure and business opposition.

“That’s why I was the first to expose the government’s plans to implement this idea and said what should be done to prevent this. I thank the associations that reacted quickly and provided their counter-argument,” summed up the deputy.

As GMK Center reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers intends to develop a draft law on the introduction of a 10% fee for the purchase of all imported goods and services.

After that, Ukrainian business insisted on conducting detailed consultations with businesses that have foreign trade operations. According to business, additional duties and the actual increase in the price of critical goods imports will inevitably fall on the final consumer and will lead to an inflation increase.
