The transition to domestic raw materials almost did not affect the quality of products, which was previously considered impossible

In 2022, the coke-chemical division of the Dnipro Metallurgical Plant switched to the production of coke exclusively from Ukrainian raw materials. This is reported in the corporate newspaper DCH Steel.

“In 2022, coke chemists managed to switch to work exclusively on Ukrainian raw materials without a significant decrease in quality, which was previously considered impossible (in particular, due to high ash content),” noted the director of quality and technology of the enterprise Yuriy Kravchenko.

According to him, the specialists managed to continue the production of coke products according to the requirements of customers.

“Last year, the sales department managed to find additional buyers of coke, except for ferroalloy plants. We hope that this will continue to happen if the market picks up in the spring,” he added.

As Interfax-Ukraine reported earlier, in 2022, DMZ reduced the production of metallurgical coke by 56.3% compared to 2021 – to 211 thousand tons.

As GMK Center wrote before, in 2022, Ukrainian coke plants reduced the production of gross coke of 6% moisture content by 59% compared to 2021 – to 3.91 million tons. For 12 months, the production of metallurgical coke amounted to 3.354 million tons.
