Poland’s JSW produced 3.23 million tonnes of coal in Q1

Coking coal production for the period totalled 2.76 million tonnes

The Polish mining company Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa (JSW) reduced its total coal production in the second quarter of 2026 by 0.3% quarter-on-quarter and 3.3% year-on-year, to 3.23 million tonnes. This is stated in the company’s report.

JSW’s coking coal production for the period fell by 0.7% compared with the previous quarter and by 2.1% year-on-year, to 2.76 million tonnes.

Coke production in April–June this year totalled 670,000 tonnes, down 10.6% quarter-on-quarter and 5.6% year-on-year.

Total coal sales in the second quarter amounted to 2.97 million tonnes (+1% quarter-on-quarter and -1% year-on-year). Sales of coking coal for the period totalled 2.41 million tonnes (-3.2% compared with the previous quarter and -8% year-on-year), with external customers accounting for around 69%.

In April–June, Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa sold 690,000 tonnes of coke, down 10.4% compared with the first quarter and 6.7% year-on-year.

The average selling price of coking coal to external customers in April–June stood at 767.40 zlotys per tonne ($209.8/t), up 6.2% compared with the previous quarter and 12.4% year-on-year.

It should be noted that, in Q1 2026, Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa increased its coking coal production by almost 20% year-on-year – to 2.78 million tonnes, which was the key driver of the group’s production growth. Total coal production rose by 13.1% year-on-year – to 3.24 million tonnes.

As reported by GMK Center, JSW had previously revised its forecast for 2026, lowering its expected coal production volume due to delays at one of its key mines. This year’s figure is expected to be approximately 13.3 million tonnes. Last November, the estimate stood at approximately 13.5 million tonnes.
