Sukha Balka starts development of a new block with reserves of over 40 thousand tons

Sukha Balka Mine, part of DCH Steel Group, has started developing a new block with reserves of over 40 thousand tons of high-quality ore at Frunze mine. This is stated in the company’s corporate newspaper.

The new block 55-61 from the Druzhba deposit is located at a horizon of -1210 meters. Its reserves amount to 41.5 thousand tons of high-quality raw materials with an iron content of 60% to 66%, and it is planned to develop them in 2.5 months.

The block has been prepared and will be developed by miners of the No. 6 area. Sinking and mining operations were carried out with the help of self-propelled equipment, and drilling was carried out using NKR machines.

As noted, block 55-61 is the final block at the -1210 m horizon, and the next production units will be developed at lower horizons of the deposit.

Yubileyna mine at Sukha Balka mine recently commissioned a new block 28-34, which will allow the company to meet its targets over the next five months. The block is located in the Golovoye seam at a horizon of -1420 meters and contains 135 thousand tons of crude ore with an iron content of 58.4%.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Sukha Balka mine produced 1.002 million tons of crude ore in 2024. Last year, the company produced 917 thousand tons of commercial products, down 1.5% compared to 2023.

The company plans to mine 930 thousand tons of crude ore and produce 850 thousand tons of commercial products in 2025. Rock mass processing is expected to reach 8 thousand cubic meters, cutting operations – 5.2 thousand meters, and well drilling – 91.77 thousand meters.

Sukha Balka mine specializes in underground iron ore mining and has an annual capacity of about 3.1 million tons. It includes Yubileyna and Frunze mines.
