Sukha Balka resumed block preparation at depths below -1210 meters

Sukha Balka mine, part of DCH Group, has resumed the project to prepare blocks at depths below -1210 meters, which was suspended due to the war. The work continues at the Frunze mine, where workings are being sinking using modern self-propelled equipment. The company said in a statement.

Preparatory work is currently underway at the -1210 m and -1275 m horizons. Boomer drilling rigs are used for sinking in combination with loading and delivery machines. At the sinking stage, the company plans to use a Derui dump truck to transport the raw materials to unloading points. Then the ore will be loaded into trolleys at the horizon of -1194 meters.

According to the plan, the first production at the -1227 m horizon should take place by early fall. The resumption of this project is an important step for the stable operation of the enterprise and the development of the mining industry.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Sukha Balka mine produced 1.002 million tons of crude ore in 2024. Last year’s production of commercial products amounted to 917 thousand tons, which is 1.5% less than in 2023. Thus, the company processed 7.68 thousand cubic meters of rock mass, performed 4.99 thousand meters of cutting operations and 92.94 thousand meters of well drilling.

The company plans to mine 930 thousand tons of raw ore and produce 850 thousand tons of commercial products in 2025. Rock mass processing is expected to reach 8 thousand cubic meters, cutting operations – 5.2 thousand meters, and well drilling – 91.77 thousand meters.

Sukha Balka mine specializes in underground iron ore mining and has a capacity of about 3.1 million tons per year. It includes Yuvileyna and Frunze mines.
