Sukha Balka launches a new block at Yuvileyna mine with reserves of 141 thousand tons

In early March 2025, Sukha Balka mine, part of the DCH Group, commissioned a new 40-46 block. It is located in the Gnezdo deposit, on the first sub-floor of the -1420 m horizon. The total reserves of high-quality raw materials amount to 141 thousand tons, and the iron content in the massif reaches 60%. This is stated in the corporate newspaper DCH Steel.

The opening of the block was the result of the coordinated work of miners of the rifling section No. 4, section No. 9 for drilling deep wells, as well as auxiliary units.

“The miners worked in a coordinated manner and completed the work in a short time,” said Volodymyr Moiseichenko, head of the mine’s production department.

Ore mining at the new production area is carried out by section No. 17. The launch of the block will ensure stable operation of the mine for at least five months. This will allow the company to meet its production targets, maintain the stability of the production process and guarantee uninterrupted supply of raw materials.

Yuvileyna Mine is one of the most important industrial facilities in the iron ore industry. The commissioning of the new unit helps to increase production efficiency and ensure the stability of the enterprise.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Sukha Balka mine produced 1.002 million tons of crude ore in 2024. Last year’s production of commercial products amounted to 917 thousand tons, which is 1.5% less than in 2023. Thus, the company processed 7.68 thousand cubic meters of rock mass, performed 4.99 thousand meters of cutting operations and 92.94 thousand meters of well drilling.

The company plans to mine 930 thousand tons of raw ore and produce 850 thousand tons of commercial products in 2025. Rock mass processing is expected to reach 8 thousand cubic meters, cutting operations – 5.2 thousand meters, and well drilling – 91.77 thousand meters.

Sukha Balka mine specializes in underground iron ore mining and has a capacity of about 3.1 million tons per year. It includes Yuvileyna and Frunze mines.
