Production capacity at a depth of 1,420 m will ensure stable extraction of high-quality ore for six months

At the Sukha Balka mine, part of the DCH Steel group, preparations have been completed and new production capacity with reserves of over 220,000 tons of high-quality iron ore has been officially put into operation. This was reported in the company’s corporate newspaper.

In early November, a specialized commission involving leading experts from the company and representatives of the State Labor Service of Ukraine signed an act on the commissioning of mining block 13-17. The new block is located in the Golovnyi deposit at a depth of 1,420 meters, in sublevel 3A.

The project reserves of the site amount to 221.3 thousand tons of ore with an iron content of 60.75% in the massif. According to Mykola Puntus, chief engineer of the Yuvileina mine, this block is one of the largest that the company has prepared in recent years. The preparatory work took almost a year, and the reserves will ensure stable operation of the mine for at least six months.

The cutting and preparation of the workings were carried out by specialists from section No. 4. After the completion of the formation of the mine workings and their inspection by the commission, the block was transferred to mining section No. 17 for development.

As reported by GMK Center, the Sukha Balka mine produced 1.002 million tons of raw ore in 2024. Last year, commercial production amounted to 917,000 tons, which is 1.5% less than in 2023. Thus, over the year, 7,680 cubic meters of rock mass were processed, 4,990 meters of cutting work and 92,940 meters of well drilling were performed.

The company plans to extract 930,000 tons of raw ore and produce 850,000 tons of commercial products in 2025. Rock mass processing is expected to reach 8,000 cubic meters, cutting work – 5,200 meters, and well drilling – 91,770 meters.
