SteelHome forecasts decreasing steel production in China by 2% in 2020

Information and Analytical Center SteelHome (China) forecasts that in 2020 steel production in China will reduce by 2% compared with 2019 – to 960 mln tons. It was announced by Wu Wenzhang, President of Steelhome at the European Steel Conference 2019 in Milano.

Apparent crude steel consumption will be 902 mln tons in 2020. It is 2.4% lower than expected in 2019.

In 2020 steel export from China will be 66 mln tons, steel import – 11.5 mln tons.

SteelHome predicts that in 2020 average price of usual HRC in China will be about 3500 yuan per ton. It is 8% lower than in 2019.

According SteelHome estimates in 2019 China will produce 980 mln tons of steel. It is 5.6% bigger than in 2018.

In 2019 apparent crude steel consumption will be 924 mln tons. It is 6.3% bigger than last year. Steel export from China will be 66.1 mln tons.
