According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, steel production fell by almost 12% in October 2019 compared to October 2018.
A greater decline — 15.4% — was recorded only in the automotive industry. At the same time, industrial production fell by 5% in October 2019 compared to October 2018. If we compare Septembers of both years, the decline was 1.3%.
Production of metal ores decreased by 4%.
The State Statistics Service recorded an increase in the volumes of industrial production in October only in the segments of computer, electronics and optical products (28.7%), chemical products (3.5%) and pharmaceutical products (1.3%).
In the first ten months of 2019, industrial production in Ukraine decreased by 0.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
At the same time, in January–September 2019 compared to the same period of 2018, both industrial production and steel production remained more or less flat. Mining of iron ores increased by 2.6% in the same period.
