Scrap supplies to steelmakers increased by 26.3% in H1 2021

In January–June 2021, scrap shipments to Ukrainian steelmaking companies increased by 26.3% y-o-y to 1.65 million tons, according to UAVtormet association.

The volume of scrap collected by steelmaking companies in H1 increased by 42.2% to 1.98 million tons against January–June 2020.

Presently, Ukrainian steelmakers are facing no scrap deficit. As of the end of June, scrap stocks at iron and steel works amounted to 120–125 thousand tons.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2020 scrap shipments to Ukrainian steelmaking companies shrank by 3.9% y-o-y to 2.9 million tons. As of the end of December, scrap stocks at iron and steel works amounted to 170–175 thousand tons.
