Salaries in all segments of the mining & metals sector increased in March

In March 2021, average salaries in Ukraine’s mining & metals sector increased in all segments. The highest growth of 29.7% to ₴22.1 thousand was recorded in the iron and steel segment, according to the data presented by the Trade Union of Metallurgists and Miners of Ukraine (TUMMU).

In March, average salaries in the mining & metals sector were as follows:

  • coke industry — ₴21.8 thousand (+25.4%);
  • pipe industry — ₴13.7 thousand (+3.8%);
  • mining industry — ₴20.6 thousand (+17.7%);
  • non-ferrous metals industry — ₴12 thousand (+5.3%);
  • entire steel industry — ₴19.5 thousand (+25.3%).

In March, the average salary in industry was ₴15 thousand (+13.6%) against Ukraine’s average of ₴13.6 thousand (+8.5%).

As reported earlier, in 2020, average salaries in Ukraine’s mining & metals sector increased in almost all segments against 2019.  The average salary in the steel industry increased by 3.1% over the year, while salaries at pipe and non-ferrous metals companies slightly decreased.

As reported earlier, average salaries in Ukraine’s mining & metals sector went down in February in most all segments. Incomes of employees grew only in the non-ferrous metals segment, by 5.6% to ₴11.4 thousand.
