Qarmet exceeded production targets for all key products in 2024

Qarmet (formerly ArcelorMittal Temirtau) exceeded its production target for almost all key products in 2024. This was announced by the company’s CEO Vadim Basin.

Thus, last year Qarmet exceeded its production target for iron by 15%, steel by 15%, coke by 18%, sinter by 12%, and in the long products shop by 17%. In December 2024, steel production amounted to 318.8 thousand tons, up 35.7% compared to December 2023.

“Comparing the plan implementation with the results of 2023, 2024 was successful in almost all key indicators. We have also made significant progress in the coal department: we have fulfilled the sinking plan – 39 km, 51 sinking teams are working (in 2023 there were only 11). We managed to reduce the cost of slabs by 18% per ton compared to 2023,” Basin added.

The company’s business plan for the current year envisages the production of 3.7 million tons of steel. The plant’s transition to natural gas will be a key historic achievement. The company plans to implement the first stage of gasification in the spring and summer of 2025.

Qarmet produced 3 million tons of steel in January-October 2024, which is equal to the annual production volume of 2023. In October, the company produced about 400 thousand tons of steel. In 2024, the company planned to reach 3.5 million tons of steel. Product shipments are expected to reach 3.2 million tons.
