Prydniprovska railway repaired 200 freight railcars in January 2023

In January 2023, the regional branch Prydniprovska Railway of Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) repaired 200 freight railcars in specialized repair depots of the Prydniprovska highways. This is stated in the press release on the branch website.

The railcars on which the work was carried out belong to the railway carrier, its subordinate enterprises and private structures.

“The Prydniprovska Railway continues to restore freight railcars even in wartime, because the stability and quality of transportation, as well as the safety of rail traffic, depend on the technical condition of the rolling stock,” the message says.

In particular, 158 freight railcars underwent depot repair, 42 underwent major repair work. At the same time, part of the wagon repair capacity of the regional branch is located in the temporarily occupied territories.

During the past year, Ukrzalzinytsia restored 2,929 thousand freight railcars, in particular, 691 railcars were overhauled. In addition, railway operator reconstructed and overhauled 470 km of railway tracks. UZ also electrified 82 km of tracks, which is a record for the last 10 years.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2021, UZ increased the repair of freight wagons by 54.7% compared to 2020 – up to 20,471 thousand units. Most of them were repaired in a year. Semi-wagons were repaired the most during the year – 9,352,000 units, which is 34.2% more year-on-year.
