Prydniprovsk railway restored 2.3 thousand freight railcars in January-November

In January-November 2023, the regional branch Prydniprovska Railway of Ukrainian Railways (UZ) carried out various types of repairs to 2303 freight cars owned by UZ, its subordinate enterprises, and private structures. This is stated in a press release on the website of the branch.

«At the regional branch of Prydniprovska zaliznytsia, Ukrainian Railways pays close attention to the technical condition of the rolling stock, because the stability and safety of railway transportation depends on it,» the message says.

In 11 months, the railroad’s car depots repaired 2077 freight railcars through depot repairs and 226 through overhauls.

It should be noted that by the end of 2022, the regional branch of Prydniprovska Railways repaired more than 2.9 thousand freight cars. Some of the railroad’s car repair facilities are currently located in the temporarily occupied territories.

As GMK Center repored earlier, Ukrainian Railways restored 2,929 thousand freight railcars, including 691 railcars through overhaul. In addition, the railroad operator reconstructed and overhauled 470 km of tracks. UZ also electrified 82 km of tracks, which is a record figure for the last 10 years.

In 2021, UZ increased the repair of freight railcars by 54.7% compared to 2020, to 20,471 thousand units. Most of all, semi-railcars were repaired during the year – 9,352 thousand units, which is 34.2% more than in the previous year.
