Production of steel structures in Ukraine fell by 27.5% in the 9 months

In January–September 2020, the results of production of the main types of steel structures in Ukraine declined by 27.5% to 250.1 thousand tons compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the results of production of certain types of industrial products in the first nine months of 2020 published by the State Statistics Service.

The following trends in production of certain types of steel structures were recorded over the first nine months of 2020:

  • pre-engineered construction systems of pig iron or steel — a 27.1% decrease to 29.3 thousand tons;
  • lattice towers and masts of iron or steel — a 69.6% collapse to 2.6 thousand tons;
  • equipment for metal scaffolds, formworks, supports or fixtures for mines, retractable beams of lining fixtures, pipe scaffolds and other equipment of iron or steel — a 15.6% decrease to 33.9 thousand tons;
  • structures made exclusively or mainly of sheet material, of iron or steel, and other structures — a 8% decrease to 85.1 thousand tons;
  • spillways, locks, lock gates, landing stages, stationary docks, other structures for marine and river facilities of iron or steel; other structures and their parts of iron or steel — a 54.4% decrease to 63.3 thousand tons;
  • various tanks, cisterns, cylinders and similar containers for liquids and solids of iron or steel with a capacity of more than 300 liters — a zero growth, 16 thousand tons;
  • metal containers for compressed or liquefied gas — a 22.4% decrease to 2.1 thousand tons.

As reported earlier, in 2019, production of main types of steel structures in Ukraine grew by 22% to 470.2 thousand tons. The following trends in production of the largest groups of steel structures were recorded last year:

  • pre-engineered construction systems of pig iron or steel — a 12.8% decrease to 44.9 thousand tons;
  • equipment for metal scaffolds, formworks, supports or fixtures for mines etc. — a 4.5% increase to 78.8 thousand tons;
  • structures made exclusively or mainly of sheet material, of iron or steel — a 24.4% increase to 128.2 thousand tons;
  • spillways, locks, lock gates, landing stages, stationary docks, other structures for marine and river facilities of iron or steel, other structures of iron or steel — a 25.2% increase to 179.8 thousand tons.
