Piotr Sikorski appointed head of the Polish Steel Distributors Association

The board of the Polish Steel Distributors Association (PUDS) has appointed Piotr Sikorski as the new president of the organization. His term of office began on August 27, 2025. He replaces Iwona Dybal, who has headed the association for the past 13 years and has decided to step down from her leadership role.

The PUDS statement highlighted Dybala’s significant contribution to the development of the organization and the steel distribution sector in Poland. During her years of leadership, the union strengthened its position as a key representative of the interests of its member companies, expanded professional standards, and deepened cooperation with government and industry structures.

Piotr Sikorski has been closely associated with the steel industry for many years, and previously served as director of PUDS. In addition, since December 2024, he has been a member of the Presidium of EUROMETAL, the European Association for Steel Distribution and Trade.

«As president of PUDS, my priority is to further strengthen the organization as the voice of the Polish steel distribution sector and to expand the range of companies we can support. With regulatory issues becoming increasingly important, it is essential that the union remains a strong and recognized force in the industry. I am committed to deepening dialogue with the authorities, economic partners, and other associations, while helping our members adapt to challenges such as decarbonization, sustainable development, digitalization, and barriers to international trade,» Sikorski said.

He has extensive management experience and consistently emphasizes the role of the distribution sector in the economy. In his opinion, this segment is important not only for ensuring trade, but also for the development of value-added services and processing. Sikorski is a graduate of the University of Warsaw, Faculty of Journalism and Political Science.

It should be recalled that in 2024, Poland increased steel production by 10.1% compared to 2023 – from 6.4 million tons to 7.1 million tons. The country ranked 25th in the global ranking of steel-producing countries (71) by World Steel.

There are six metallurgical enterprises in Poland, including ArcelorMittal Warszawa (capacity of 0.75 million tons of steel per year), Celsa Huta Ostrowiec (0.9 million tons/year), Huta Czestochowa (0.84 million tons/year), CMC Zawiercie (1.7 million tons/year), ArcelorMittal Dąbrowa Górnicza (5 million tons/year), and Ferrostal Labedy Gliwice (0.5 million tons/year).
