American steel company Nucor announced an increase in its weekly spot price (CSP) for hot-rolled coil (HRC).
Offers for October 27-November 3 rose by $10/t compared to the previous week, to $885 per short ton for all production facilities except California Steel Industries (CSI), where the price is $945/t (+1% compared to the previous week).
Prior to this, Nucor’s price for the corresponding products had remained unchanged since August 25.
Spot order delivery times are estimated at 3-5 weeks.
SMU estimated spot prices for US HRC as of October 21 at $805/t. This is approximately $20 higher than a month earlier.
Nucor’s third-quarter 2025 earnings, reported in its October 27 earnings release, exceeded expectations due to higher product prices and strong shipments.
Total shipments from the company’s steel mills for the period increased by 12% year-on-year to approximately 6.4 million tons. In the third quarter, the company also recorded a 5% year-on-year increase in average external sales prices to $1,258 per short ton.
Nucor’s net sales for the third quarter were $8.52 billion (+14% y/y), net income was $607 million (compared to $250 million for the same period in 2024). dollars in the same quarter last year.
As noted by Leon Topalyan, President, Chairman, and CEO of the company, Nucor continues to implement its strategy of expanding its core steelmaking capabilities while expanding its activities in segments related to metallurgy. During the third quarter, production ramp-up began on two recently completed bar projects, and projects for sheet steel production and coating are moving forward. Production of towers has also begun at the Alabama Towers & Structures plant.
It should be noted that US steel producers have announced further price increases for their products, indicating a gradual recovery in market demand. In particular, NLMK USA is increasing prices for hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils by at least $50 per short ton, as well as for coated products by at least $100/ton.
Following NLMK USA, Atlas Tube announced price increases, raising the cost of mechanical pipes, HSS, and pile products by at least $50/ton for all new orders.
