Nucor is raising the price of hot-rolled coils by $10/t

The American steel producer Nucor has once again raised its spot price (CSP) for hot-rolled coils by $10 per short tonne compared with the previous week. This is stated in a letter from the company to its customers dated 27 July.

The new offer price stands at $1,145/t.

The CSP for the joint venture California Steel Industries (CSI) has risen by $15 per short tonne this time, to $1,200/t.

As noted in the letter to customers, delivery times remain unchanged at 3 to 5 weeks.

From the end of January to 22 June this year, Nucor consistently announced increases in the weekly spot price for hot-rolled coils, with increments of $5–15 per short tonne. From 22 June, the company took a three-week break, maintaining its offer at $1,130 per metric tonne. Subsequently, on 13 July, the steel producer raised the price to $1,135 per metric tonne, after which another pause was observed.

According to Steel Market Update, the average price for hot-rolled coil in the US stood at $1,165 per short tonne as of 21 July.

It should be noted that the global market for hot-rolled coil showed mixed trends in July 2026. In particular, in the United States, prices rose steadily due to limited spot supply and stable demand. Prices in the US are likely to remain high in the near future, although a seasonal slowdown and a gradual recovery in production may limit any further sharp increases.
