Most large-diameter pipe producers in Ukraine were able to resume production

Four mini-metallurgical plants producing large-diameter steel pipes (426-1420 mm) continue to operate in Ukraine amid the war. The full-scale aggression severely affected the current operations of these enterprises, but since the beginning of the war, most of them have been able to significantly restore production volumes.

The following companies continue to produce large-diameter pipes in Ukraine:

  1. Ukrtruboizol (Meliorativne village, Dnipropetrovska oblast) is the most successful enterprise in this sample during the war. The volume of products sold in recent years has grown steadily by an average of 70% and amounted to UAH 498 million in 2024. The company even increased its staff to 186 employees last year from 168 in 2021. In 2024, the company declared UAH 55 million in profit.
  2. The Steel Profile Plant (Dnipro) has significantly reduced its operations in recent years. Since the start of the full-scale aggression, revenue has halved, and the number of employees has dropped to 59 in 2024 from 88 in 2021. Last year, the plant posted a loss of UAH 15 million.
  3. Ukrspetskonstruktsiya (Kryvyi Rih) is a small company (30 employees) that supplies pipes to the city’s mining and processing plants. In 2022, revenue fell to UAH 63 million, but recovered to pre-war levels of UAH 228 million in 2024. The plant has been making a small profit for the past three years.
  4. The Ukrainian Pipe Plant (Dnipro) cut production in 2022 to UAH 270 million, but restored it to UAH 525 million in 2024. Over the same period, the company’s staff decreased from 182 to 147 people. Last year, the company ended with a profit of UAH 12 million.

According to GMK Center, pipe production in Ukraine increased by 12% – to 780 thousand tons in 2024. At the same time, Ukrtruboprom’s enterprises increased their output by 10% in 2023 compared to 2022, to 495.6 thousand tons.

In 2024, pipe exports from Ukraine increased by 43.1% y/y – to 510 thousand tons. Export revenue increased by 10.5% compared to 2023 to $648.7 million.
