More than 300 demobilized soldiers work at Metinvest’s enterprises in Zaporizhzhia

After demobilization, more than 300 war veterans returned to work at Metinvest Group’s Zaporizhzhia-based enterprises, including Zaporizhstal, Zaporozhkoks, Zaporozhogneupor and Zaporizhzhia Foundry and Mechanical Plant. This was made possible by the corporate program “Hero’s Path: Veterans’ Integration Ecosystem”. The program covers the entire path of soldiers – from mobilization to full adaptation in the team after returning from the front, the company said in a press release.

Most of the returning veterans had been working at Metinvest’s enterprises before mobilization. At the same time, about 35% of new employees are soldiers who joined the teams from the external labor market.

The ecosystem provides comprehensive support for veterans. Employees receive the necessary ammunition and financial assistance before they start their service. Upon returning from the front, the company organizes in-depth medical examinations, treatment, psychological support, and, if necessary, prosthetics. Veterans can also get a new qualification at Metinvest Polytechnic free of charge.

Special attention is paid to adaptation. Employees of the enterprises are prepared for the return of their veteran colleagues through video courses and trainings. This helps create favorable conditions for veterans to reintegrate into the workforce.

In total, over 1,800 employees of Metinvest’s enterprises in Zaporizhzhia have been mobilized to join the Ukrainian army since the start of the full-scale invasion. Currently, about 540 employees have been demobilized.

Metinvest also supports rehabilitation projects for war veterans in Zaporizhzhia, including Free Waves and Spiluy. Veteran. The company organizes recreational programs in the Carpathians for children of military personnel and veteran employees.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Metinvest’s veterans’ reintegration program was recognized at the Reuters: Sustainability Awards 2024 in the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion category. The nomination for the world-famous award was the first in the company’s history. In total, more than 1,000 veterans have already joined the company.
