Metinvest supplied 1 thousand tons of steel for the construction of Everton Stadium in Liverpool

In February 2025, the new stadium of the Everton Football Club opened in Liverpool, England, one of the country’s most modern sports facilities. The Ukrainian Metinvest Group joined the implementation of this large-scale infrastructure project, supplying 1,000 tons of high-quality hot-rolled steel from Spartan UK, according to a press release from Metinvest SMC.

The arena, located in the historic Bramley Moore Dock area, has become a new home for the club, which is one of the founders of the English Premier League. The stadium has a capacity of 53 thousand spectators and replaces Goodison Park, a legendary but outdated arena that had served Everton for over 130 years. The construction of the new arena started after the introduction of new safety standards in the UK, which require the arrangement of only seating.

A feature of the new stadium is the innovative no-blockwork technology, which involves the installation of structures without the use of brickwork. This required maximum design accuracy and material reliability. That is why Spartan UK steel, manufactured by Metinvest in the UK, was used to form the key load-bearing elements of the structure.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Metinvest Group’s Ukrainian steel became the basis for the new combat support ship Den Helder, which will join the Royal Netherlands Navy. The ship was built using 5 thousand tons of steel: 4.76 thousand tons produced by Azovstal Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol and another 240 tons by Metinvest Trametal, an Italian company.
