Metinvest presents unique Steel Dream concepts for rebuilding Ukrainian cities at URC 2025

Metinvest Group presented four unique concepts for the Steel Dream redevelopment of neighborhoods in Bakhmut, Mariupol, Trostyanets, and Hlukhiv at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 in Rome. This was reported in a statement by the company.

The presented solutions are part of a joint platform with municipalities aimed at the rapid, systematic, and modern restoration of destroyed Ukrainian cities.

Three of the four concepts — Bakhmut-Goshcha, Mariupol-Bila Tserkva, and Trostyanets — were presented in Rome by the mayors of the cities themselves in the Community Pavilion. They became a platform for negotiations with donors, foundations, and potential investors. The project has attracted interest: a series of meetings has already been scheduled with representatives of state institutions and international organizations that are considering supporting its implementation.

Trostyanets Mayor Yuriy Bova noted that Steel Dream has become an effective tool for the city, allowing us to reach a new level of negotiations with international partners.

“Having such a detailed plan is exactly what is expected of us on the international arena. This approach has the potential to become a driver for the entire Sumy region,” he said.

A presentation of the general concept of Steel Dream within the framework of the URC took place separately at the Business Fair Stage. It was presented by Tetiana Skrypka, head of external projects at Metinvest Sichstal.

According to her, Steel Dream is a universal concept that will enable the rapid and safe restoration of infrastructure. It is based on three steel technologies: modules, frames, and platforms. The company’s specialists have developed more than 200 standard designs for residential and social infrastructure.

The main advantages of such housing are speed of construction thanks to ready-made structures, reliability and durability, as well as flexibility in planning and use. It is also important that 98% of steel is recyclable, which makes the solution environmentally responsible.

The head of external projects at Metinvest Sichstal also showed how Steel Dream projects are being implemented in practice.

In particular, the “Circle of Life” concept is being implemented in Hlukhiv, which involves park areas that bring people together and integrate education with nature, and in Trostyanets – the “Point of Unity,” which will unite the industrial, cultural, and environmental heritage of the city into a single ecosystem.

“Lines of Life” is a concept developed by Metinvest for displaced persons from Mariupol in Bila Tserkva. These are themed paths that transform space into a living social network. And for the community of Bakhmut in Goscha, it is proposed to recreate the identity of their hometown using familiar zoning and symbolic elements, such as the Alley of Roses. The design of these neighborhoods will start this year.

Metinvest offers communities a comprehensive roadmap, from concept to operation. The company provides not only standard designs, but also assistance in finding financing, preparing documentation, and launching construction.

Metinvest presented a new social housing project at the Ukrainian Construction Congress (UBC) in Kyiv. It is a steel modular house created as part of the Steel Dream initiative. This solution will help communities quickly build housing for displaced persons and rebuild cities.
