Focus on physical and mental recovery, team support, and long-term integration
On July 15, at the Veterans Initiatives forum, Metinvest Group presented one of the components of its ecosystem for the (re)integration of defenders – physical and mental health. The presentation took place as part of the presentation of Top Lead’s analytical study “Veterans after the war: how to ensure dignity at work,” prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the Ukrainian Veterans Fund.
Metinvest approaches veteran programs as a long-term systemic policy, in which not only initiatives are important, but also sustainable mechanisms for their support,” said Svitlana Parova, head of veteran reintegration projects.
She emphasized that the company pays special attention to the psychological and emotional state, medical support, professional and social integration, as well as working with teams.
Key initiatives include the Metinvest Together psychological support service with consultations from military psychologists and POBRATIM group meetings, veterans’ camps in the Carpathians, the inclusive program “Free Waves” with rehabilitation through swimming, and extended insurance “VETERAN.”
“We have revised our health insurance policy and launched the ‘VETERAN’ program for veterans in the first year after demobilization,” Parova said.
The program covers dentistry, medication, chronic diseases, and treatment of injuries sustained in service.
The company also works with labor collectives: it organizes training on interacting with veterans, as well as small events for social adaptation — “veteran gatherings,” weekend tours, quizzes, and sports competitions.
According to a study by Top Lead, only 45 of Ukraine’s 200 largest companies have a formalized veteran policy, while 23% of veterans have faced discrimination in employment.
“The integration and adaptation of veterans are areas in which companies do not compete. This is a task that must be solved together – for the future of Ukraine and for our veterans,” emphasized Stanislav Shum, CEO of Top Lead.
Earlier, Metinvest joined the Human Capital Resilience Charter (HCR), which was presented on July 11 at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) 2025 in Rome. The initiative brought together leading Ukrainian companies around the goal of creating a sustainable, inclusive labor market in the context of post-war reconstruction. Among the first signatories are PrivatBank, DTEK, Naftogaz of Ukraine, as well as government agencies: the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, and the National Bank of Ukraine.
