Metinvest Polytechnic, Ukraine’s first non-state mining and metallurgical university, is strengthening its international cooperation with leading European companies. This was announced in a statement by the university.
As part of the partnership with Sarralle Group, university representatives – postgraduate student Igor Navolnev and Ivan Volovnenko, leading ITV technologist at the Metinvest Sichstal Directorate for Technology and Best Practices – visited the production site where equipment for modern metallurgical plants is designed and manufactured. It is precisely such enterprises that may become the basis for the revival of Ukrainian industry in the future.
They familiarized themselves with Sarralle Group’s latest developments in the design and manufacture of equipment for metallurgical plants, in particular solutions for the modernization of electric arc furnaces (EAF), modern steel casting technologies, and the possibilities of using up to 100% direct reduced iron (DRI) in smelting.
As noted by the university, international partnerships are important not only for the development of science, but also for training specialists who will participate in the restoration of industrial facilities and critical infrastructure in Ukraine. Metinvest Polytechnic students are already undergoing internships at Promet Steel in Burgas (Bulgaria) and participating in programs in Italy and Austria in cooperation with Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche, one of the world leaders in metallurgical engineering.
«The combination of international experience, cooperation with business, and practical education is shaping a new quality of Ukrainian engineering schools – capable of reviving industry and opening new horizons. Even in the difficult conditions of wartime, Metinvest Polytechnic continues to integrate into the global technological space, giving students experience with advanced technologies and the chance to become part of major international projects,» the university said in a statement.
All of the university’s educational programs are licensed by the Ministry of Education and undergo state accreditation by the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance. The educational process is built in a hybrid format, combining online lectures with practical training at enterprises.
In April last year, Metinvest Polytechnic graduated another 124 master’s degree students. The second cohort of students chose fields that shape the future of industry: metallurgy, mining, automation, computer science, ecology, occupational safety, project management, and business efficiency.
