Metinvest Polytechnic students will be able to obtain dual degrees with Dnipro Polytechnic

Students at Metinvest Polytechnic, a private iron and steel university in Ukraine, will be able to obtain dual degrees with Dnipro Polytechnic, as the two universities are developing a joint program. This was announced by Olexander Povazhny, rector of Metinvest Polytechnic, at the Forbes University forum organized by Forbes Ukraine in Kyiv.

He believes that the country’s technical universities should cooperate and create synergy. To this end, the university has signed memoranda with Kyiv Polytechnic University and Dnipro Polytechnic University.

Oleksandr Povazhny also noted: «Metinvest Polytechnic demonstrates how a large private business can not only finance but also manage a university, participate in its work, and be a true partner in education. This involves not only expertise in educational programs but also the participation of Metinvest representatives as teachers and participants in specific case studies.

In addition, the educational process at the university is distinguished by a flexible schedule and a focus on practical training.

«The university is also a platform for innovation, participating in scientific research and operational improvement programs, where teachers and students solve complex business problems. This is a significant advantage for both the university and the company,» explained the rector of Metinvest Polytechnic.

He noted that to overcome the crisis in secondary education and improve the level of training in the exact sciences, the university cooperates with vocational and technical institutions, contributing to the expertise of programs, the educational process, and the development of laboratory and practical facilities.

“We bring students up to university level through additional programs, practical training, and cooperation with vocational schools to show that physics, mathematics, and other basic sciences are real tools for future success as an engineer,” he said.

Metinvest Polytechnic also supports student leadership and initiatives. For example, after the first graduation, an alumni association was created, which includes students, university management, and Metinvest. This helps keep the lines of communication open, lets them track career paths, and gives grads opportunities for growth and creative initiatives.

At the same time, the university’s scholarship program includes regular, enhanced, and CEO scholarships.

Metinvest Polytechnic University was founded in June 2020 by Metinvest Group. Over the five years of its existence, more than 1080 students have been enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programs. 970 students took advanced training courses in metallurgy, mining, and soft skills development, and 4,150 employees of Metinvest’s enterprises took occupational safety training and language courses. The university has already graduated 267 masters.
