Metinvest helped build Ukraine’s first 3D-printed house

Ukraine’s first 3D-printed house was built near Irpin. It was built with the support of Metinvest Group for the family of a fallen soldier.

This is stated in the report of Metinvest.Media.

The house has become a new home for the Berezovy family. In 2022, the family suffered a double blow – the head of the family, Yaroslav Berezov, was killed in the battles near Bakhmut, and the house was destroyed by the Russians during the occupation of the city.

The 130-square-meter house was printed in 58 hours using the first Ukrainian construction 3D printer by 3D UTU. The construction required 72 tons of a special quick-setting cement-sand mixture. “Metinvest, in turn, supplied more than 20 tons of steel products from the warehouses of Metinvest SMC, a sales company, free of charge. This steel became the basis for the foundation, walls and ceiling of the building.

According to Oleg Davydenko, Director of Metinvest’s Corporate Communications Department, the company is very closely connected with the Armed Forces. More than 8,000 of its employees have gone to the front, and the group produces equipment for the front line and participates in the construction of fortifications.

“Therefore, when we received a request to provide metal for the construction of a house printed on a 3D printer for the family of a fallen soldier, we did not hesitate for long and supplied all the products for free. For us, this is just a test project for the construction of the future, in new formats that I am sure will be distributed throughout Ukraine along with steel construction. We are ready to supply steel for Ukraine’s recovery in the volumes that our country needs,” he said.

According to Irpin Mayor Oleksandr Markushin, thousands of private homes were damaged or destroyed in the city. Today, the town is a leader in reconstruction in Ukraine. The mayor believes that the house printed with a 3D printer is a vivid example of how technology can help revive communities devastated by war.

The layout of the house takes into account all regulatory requirements for housing, as well as modern ideas about comfort. The house has a spacious living room, three bedrooms, a kitchen-studio, and household facilities. The house is equipped with the necessary communications and is fully ready for a family to live in.

The project, which involved more than 100 partners, was implemented thanks to the United for Help initiative of the Embrace the Nation Foundation. The new house of the Berezovy family was built on the site of the one destroyed by the enemy.

“This is not just a building. It is a symbol of hope for a new life that this family deserves. And it is very symbolic that on the eve of the house’s completion, two weeks ago, a happy event happened in their family – a new little Ukrainian was born,” said Inna Furman, CEO of 3D UTU and head of the CF.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Metinvest Group has allocated UAH 6.9 billion to help Ukraine and its citizens, including more than UAH 3.4 billion for the needs of the army as part of the Steel Front military initiative.
